VLC is a free and one of the world's most famous open-source multimedia players and streaming media server developed by the VideoLAN project.  It is cross-platform and can play virtually all multimedia files as well as Audio CDs, DVDs, and other different streaming protocols. VLC is available for desktop operating systems (Windows, Linux , Mac OS X) and mobile platforms, such as Android, iOS and iPadOS. This blog describes how to install VLC mediamedia player on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Also tested on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS VLC can be installed as a snap package via the Snapcraft store or as a deb package through apt.
